Teasing the Land Rover Defender

It’s the topic that’s been on our minds for years now, but Land Rover Range Rover automakers have finally given us a true tease of the 2020 Land Rover Defender.

Unlike most leaked photos of camouflaged vehicles under development, the automaker is actually the one responsible for circulating the image. It even comes with a Christmas-related caption that says “Do not unwrap until 2019.”

Here at Land Rover Northfield, we’ve been waiting for the return of the upcoming Land Rover Defender since it left the United States back in 1998. The iconic SUV is one of the most notable vehicles not only because of its popularity, but also because it was essentially the first and longest running Land Rover model ever made.

While we still don’t know much about the new vehicle, we as your Northfield and Evanston, IL Land Rover dealers are happy to share what we know so far. It’s likely that there will be at least two wheelbase lengths available and several engine options. While the performance specs haven't been revealed, it’s unlikely that we’ll see a diesel option due to an increased effort to produce more environmentally friendly vehicles.

The photo itself depicts an extremely boxy and Land Rover Defender-like vehicle rolling off the back of the truck. While the caption says not to open until 2019, there’s also a rumor that we might get a full view of the vehicle as early as December 27th.

As your Northfield Land Rover dealership, we can’t wait to finally get a good look at the new Land Rover Defender. It will be exciting to see how the automaker fuses the current design language and modern technology with the iconic look and feel of the boxy Land Rover SUV. We’ll keep you updated on the Land Rover Defender as we learn more.
