Previously in this blog, we've covered how Land Rover unveiled its Land Rover Discovery family of vehicles that is set to be unveiled next model year. Well, now that we've seen the Land Rover Discovery Vision in action at the New York International Auto Show, we can safely say that we are highly anticipating the new vehicle's arrival in our new Land Rover inventory.

Land Rover is describing the Land Rover Discovery Vision as a “leisure SUV,” which may lead you to believe that the company is moving away from its legendary off-road capabilities. However, this couldn't be any further from the truth, as Land Rover has unveiled a huge array of futuristic terrain technology on the Land Rover Discovery Vision. Current Land Rover vehicles, such as the 2014 Range Rover around Highland Park, feature a Terrain Response System, but this new system will be completely different.

This innovative technology will use lasers to scan the road or trail ahead to help the vehicle and driver. These infrared lasers will map the ground to let the concept's four-wheel-drive system adjust and find the most passable route. Additionally, cameras on the front of the vehicle will capture the part of the trail that the driver cannot see. The image is then projected on the front of the windshield as augmented reality, making it so that the front appears transparent.

There are too many cool new technologies in this vehicle to list, but one more is the fact that the driver can control the Land Rover Discovery Vision via remote control for low speed maneuvers. This would prove useful in situations such as hooking up a trailer or parking in a very tight spot.

Look for the Land Rover Discovery Vision in our new inventory later this year!
