2014 Land Rover LR4 Gets New Efficient Engine

Land Rover aficionados may know the Land Rover LR4 as one of the biggest off-roading SUVs in the lineup at Land Rover, but the 2014 edition of the vehicle receives a new, more fuel-efficient engine. This change is reflective of the overall philosophy change at Land Rover toward making vehicles that are just as effective on the roads of suburban Chicago as they are in the wilds of the western frontier or other such off-road location.

First, here at Land Rover Winnetka, we want to dispel the notion that the 2014 Land Rover LR4 is becoming tame, because this couldn't be any further from the truth. While the 2014 Land Rover LR4 does have the option of having a single-speed transfer case, it still comes standard with the dual-speed unit with low range, which is the ideal option for testing the off-road prowess of the LR4.

However, Land Rover did find that increasing numbers of buyers were using their Land Rover vehicles mainly on paved roads and were looking for increased fuel efficiency, which is why Land Rover decided to give the LR4 a new supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. This still-powerful engine puts out 340 horsepower and 332 pound-per-foot of torque, while delivering much improved gas mileage numbers. All this power is then transferred to an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission, which makes the engine/transmission combination the same as the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport.

Here at your local LR4 and Range Rover Dealer, Northbrook and Winnetka residents are also raving about the new grille, front bumper, headlamps, and daytime running lights that are making the LR4 more suitable and attractive for everyday driving, as well as the off-roading that Land Rover vehicles are known for.
