Land Rover has always been an innovative company in more than just making cars. Its advertising and marketing efforts have put other automakers to shame, and the latest news out of Land Rover headquarters reinforces the company's penchant for creating interesting ads. Land Rover teamed up with New York advertising firm Y&R Media in order to create a unique ad campaign for the exciting new 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Discovery Sport.
Instagram Video isn't really a platform that has been utilized a lot for advertising, but Land Rover is going to change that with this new campaign. Y&R Media refers to the ads as “adventure storytelling,” and two individual Instagram accounts run by Land Rover showcase single narratives or “fictional audio-visual adventure stories” that consist of a series of landscape-style shots composed of individual Instagram entities.
If that sounds like a mouthful, it basically boils down to telling a story of people undertaking outdoor adventures with the help of the new 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Discovery Sport. In the hardy four-wheel-drive SUV from Land Rover, two individuals are shown doing things like hunting for chives in a public park, fording a body of water, and taking a journey through the wilds of rural Utah. A user scrolls through the videos horizontally, and each video contains a 10- or 15-second loop. This kind of storytelling advertising is simply unheard of.
