Make no mistake about it, Land Rover has always been an automaker that combines off-road hardiness and durability with upscale design and high-end technologies. From the Land Rover LR4 to the Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover vehicles are artistic creations. The newest collaboration that our favorite automaker has engaged in is with famous British designer Paul Smith, who helped design a new version of the new Land Rover Defender.

Here at Land Rover Northfield, we are always excited when Land Rover collaborates with a famous designer, let alone one with the stature of Paul Smith. The retooled version of the famous Land Rover Defender was unveiled last week at Paul Smith's shop in West London and features an appearance inspired by the British countryside, as well as Armed Forces-grade off-road vehicles. This makes sense in the Land Rover story, because the vehicles were originally developed for use during war, but everyday Northfield drivers appreciate its off-road durability when they go on camping trips or otherwise take the vehicles where the pavement ends.

The Paul Smith-designed Land Rover Defender also features his trademark style on the interior. Once you step into the cabin, you'll be amazed by the attention to detail on the stitching of the leather and fabric seats. If you catch a glimpse of the roof of the vehicle, you'll see a hand-painted bee, which, according to Smith, is “another tongue in cheek reference to the countryside and the heritage of the car.

It's unclear whether or not the Paul Smith version of the Land Rover Defender will hit American shores, but when looking for any new Land Rover for sale, Chicago-area drivers simply need to visit Land Rover Northfield.
