These days, it's hard to keep up with all the new Land Rover vehicles that are getting released. Besides adjustments and new trims to classic Land Rover cars like the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Land Rover Discovery, the automaker is also hard at work on brand new vehicles. The newest, the 2017 Land Rover Discovery, is about unconventional as it gets, and this new Land Rover was just spotting roaming the streets in test drivers.

Here at Land Rover Northfield, one thing that we know about this secretive new SUV is that it is based on the design of the new Range Rover Evoque and the newly-arrived 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport. The design of the 2017 Discovery adopts the sheet metal and lines of the Evoque while borrowing the shape from the Range Rover Sport. One interesting new adoption to the Discovery is the D-Pillar, which features a spacious greenhouse, tall rear window, and rear overhang. What this means is that the Discovery could potentially offer a full-sized third row of seating.

Besides the new design, the upcoming Discovery will also showcase Land Rover's commitment to transitioning to aluminum architecture. Thus, expect significant weight savings, as well as improved handling and gas mileage. Meanwhile, the spies that spotted the 2017 Land Rover Discovery in the wild also suggest that it will have three different types of powertrain: gas, diesel, and hybrid. We're especially looking forward to the diesel engine, which could be the same 3.0-liter TDV6 that is sold in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.

While we don't know a whole lot more about this exciting new Land Rover, we encourage Northfield drivers to visit Land Rover Northfield to check out our current inventory!
