Here at our Land Rover dealership serving Chicago, IL, we try to keep abreast of the latest Land Rover news around the world. Typically this news involves new Land Rover technologies, vehicles, or sales reports, which is why we were surprised when he read a report out of the UK linking Land Rover vehicles, LEGO sculptures, and the Guinness Book of World Records. In order to promote their new Land Rover Discovery vehicle, engineers at Land Rover in the United Kingdom have constructed a 13-meter high replica of London’s Tower Bridge with LEGOs.
The 13-meter high structure was unveiled last week in Warwickshire, United Kingdom. It now holds the Guinness World Record for Largest LEGO Sculpture (Most Bricks), as the replica of the famous London monument was created using an amazing 5,805,846 individual pieces. If you were to lay these bricks end to end, they would stretch for almost 200 miles, or the distance from the Tower Bridge in London to Paris.
We already previewed the upcoming 2017 Land Rover Discovery last week, but the unveiling of the LEGO replica was part of a huge event designed to show off the upcoming Land Rover vehicle. In addition to the unveiling of this sculpture, the event featured noted survivalist and adventurer Bear Grylls rappelling from the top of the huge Tower Bridge installation, through the open drawbridge, and onto the stage besides the new Land Rover Discovery. In the finale, the sailing Olympic gold medalist drove the new Land Rover SUV through 900-millimeter deep water under the bridge, while towing a LEGO replica of the Land Rover BAR boat.
We now have the new 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport at our dealership, and we invite you in to check it out!
