2014 is turning into a time of change and transition for Land Rover. Still fresh off the redesign of the Range Rover in 2012, Land Rover continues to innovate and come out with exciting new vehicles. We've already introduced the upcoming Land Rover Discovery in a previous blog post, but here at Land Rover Winnetka, we've recently become privy to a new concept video that divulges new information about this new vehicle.
Because Land Rover is a British company, its models actually have different names overseas. The vehicle that we know as the 2014 Land Rover LR4 over here in Winnetka is actually known as the Land Rover Discovery in Europe. With the release of this new model, the LR4 name will be discontinued and replaced with the Discovery moniker. In addition, the popular 2014 Land Rover LR2 is expected to be renamed to something like Discovery Sport. Similar to the Range Rover brand, the Discovery will be a whole family of vehicles, with varying sizes and characteristics.
The 42-second long teaser video provides a glimpse of the Land Rover Discovery, suggesting a more dynamic and modern shape than the current Land Rover LR4. However, it is unmistakably a Land Rover vehicle, thanks to its characteristic stepped roof that is found in other Land Rover cars in Chicago and Winnetka. Unique to the Discovery is what appears to be a five-seat arrangement that has a sliding and folding rear middle seat, which will allow the Discovery to be a vehicle fit for the whole family.
Set for release in 2015, the Land Rover Discovery family of vehicles is sure to excite.
