When most people think of classic Land Rover vehicles, the Land Rover Defender is one of the first to come to mind. The iconic vehicle first hit the road in 1983, when it was a no-nonsense off-roading beast. Land Rover Defender vehicles from the first year were known for their rugged looks, take-no-prisoners attitude, and powerful engines. Sadly, after years of success, Land Rover recently announced that it will be ending production of the Land Rover Defender in 2015. However, that doesn't mean the Defender is dead; it will just be assuming a different form.
Here at Land Rover Winnetka, your home for a Land Rover for sale, Chicago and Winnetka residents are clamoring for details of the next Defender. Luckily for them, some facts have just emerged about the new Land Rover. Although we don't know what it will be named yet, the new truck will arrive in 2016. It will look nothing like the previously revealed DC100 and DC100 Sport concepts that were presented at the 2011 Frankfort Motor Show, because they're “too generic.” This means the new Defender will ditch the classic's conservative function-over-form design for a bold and sophisticated new appearance.
We also know that the next Defender will be offered with several wheelbase lengths and in both passenger and cargo-hauling configuration, appropriate for all types of Winnetka drivers. We're not sure whether the new Land Rover will retain the current model's body-on-frame construction, or it will adopt the traditional unibody all-aluminum D7 body. Until more details are presented about the new 2016 Land Rover Defender, we invite you to come test a new or pre-owned Land Rover right here at Land Rover Winnetka.
