When you think about Range Rover vehicles, do you think about a slow and lumbering off-road beast, or a fast and powerful car that also gets surprisingly good fuel economy? While Land Rover cars certainly used to be slow and lumbering back in the 1980s, they have undergone a huge change in attitude in the last decade. The culmination of this shift is set to occur with the upcoming release of the 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR, which is the fastest and most powerful Land Rover ever.

With the new Range Rover Sport, Northbrook and Winnetka residents will be treated to all new Land Rover model. The vehicle debuts at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this weekend, and it will likely hit our Winnetka Land Rover dealership in the next few months. Land Rover has released a few key details about the Range Rover Sport SVR, such as the fact that it can go from zero to 60 in 4.5 seconds and that its top speed is 162 miles per hour.

In the past, Land Rover has sometimes focused on extras, but with this model the focus is going to center around what lies in the body and under the hood. Land Rover took the powerful supercharged V8 five-liter engine from the Range Rover Sport HSE and tweaked it to add even more horsepower and torque. The final product produces an astounding 540 horsepower and 500 pound-per-foot of torque. But perhaps even more astounding is the fact that with this beast, the SVR still manages to get a combined 22.1 miles per gallon.

Needless to say, we're brimming with anticipation for the 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR!
