Chicago-area drivers know that Land Rover vehicles are known for their durability, their off-roading capability and power, but with the eventual release of the Range Rover Hybrid, a new strength will be added to the list: fuel-efficiency. Just this past week, the Range Rover Hybrid was debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show, and while it will first be released in the European market, Land Rover has promised that with its eventual American release at your local Range Rover dealer, Highland Park-area drivers will be able to experience the Range Rover Hybrid.

Here at Fields Land Rover in Winnetka, it is common to hear test drivers commenting on the powerful engine of the Range Rover vehicles they take out for a spin. When you think of hybrid cars, you may assume a loss of power comes with the territory, but that's not the case with the new Range Rover Hybrid. The hybrid system of the new Range Rover pairs a 47-horsepower electric motor with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6, producing 355 horsepower and 516 pound-per-foot of torque.

The power produced by the dual engines run to all four wheels through the eight-speed automatic transmission, which Land Rover says will produce 44.1 miles per gallon. Even though the new motor adds a bit of weight to the body, none of the zip is lost, with the big Range Rover being able to hit 62 miles per hour in just 6.9 seconds. Never before was it possible to get such a combination of off-roading dependability and fuel economy.

While waiting for the Range Rover Hybrid to hit our shores, stop on by at Fields Land Rover Winnetka to test drive one of our new or pre-owned models, such as the 2014 Range Rover SUV.
