Range Rover Evoque Wins 2013 Green Apple Award

In previous posts, we've covered how Land Rover has a mission to make its vehicles more environmentally-friendly and sustainable. Awarding bodies have now began to recognize this mission, as the Range Rover Evoque has been named the most eco small SUV by the Midland Group of Motoring Writers in Britain. The name of this award is the Green Apple Award, and this is the second consecutive victory for the Range Rover Evoque. Just the past week, the prestigious award was presented Land Rover at the Houses of Parliament.

Here at Land Rover Winnetka, your local dealer to find a Land Rover for Sale in Chicago and Winnetka, we now have the award-winning 2013 Range Rover Evoque in our new vehicle inventory. The Green Apple Award is given by the Green Organisation, which is based in Northamptonshire, England and is an independent non-political environmental group dedicated to promoting environmental practices. Its annual awards have been given since 1994, and they reflect environmental achievements and advancements in all sectors, not just automobiles.

Although the award was given to the 2013 Range Rover Evoque, the 2014 edition adds even more environmentally-friendly features. The new nine-speed automatic gearbox helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 11.4 percent and carbon dioxide emissions by 9.5 percent. This new transmission is linked to a 240-horsepower turbocharged direct-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

Another new feature on the 2014 Range Rover Evoque is the Active Driveline system, which has active differentials and torque vectoring. This new four-wheel-drive system reduces driveline drag by decoupling four-wheel-drive during steady driving above speeds of 22 miles per hour but then activating it within 300 milliseconds when it is needed.
