I know it seems like we are always reporting on technological developments undertaken by Land Rover, but when the company is doing so much to make driving a more seamless experience, we can't help it. The newest innovation out of the Land Rover headquarters is a suite of technologies in the upcoming Land Rover vehicles that will enable the car to complete secondary tasks, allowing the driver to focus on the road.

With the onslaught of personal technologies such as smartphones, drivers are increasingly distracted behind the wheel. However, the new Smart Assistant feature will increase driver safety by understanding the driver's preferences and predict them. As soon as the driver opens the door to enter the Land Rover, the Smart Assistant recognizes his smartphone and makes adjustments, such as the car seat, steering wheel placement, mirrors, and in-car climate.

What this means for Winnetka area drivers is that the Smart Assistant will allow them to focus on driving and driving only. According to Land Rover's Director of Research and Technology Wolfgang Epple, “the car's self-learning technology is aimed to minimize distraction, which will help reduce the risk of accidents. Presenting the driver with information just at the right time whilst driving will reduce both cognitive dissonance and the need for the driver to look away from the road to scroll through their phone or adjust mirrors, temperature, or seat functions while on the road.

Here at your local Range Rover dealer near Northbrook, Land Rover Winnetka, we are thrilled that this technology will be coming out in the near future. While you're waiting for it arrive, come check out our large selection of new and pre-owned Land Rover vehicles in Winnetka!
