It's becoming clearer and clearer that Land Rover is interested expanding its brand outside the automobile world. As with the recent news about Land Rover teaming up Virgin Galactic to help bring people into space, the latest news out of the Land Rover headquarters is something completely unexpected for followers of the automaker. Land Rover's newest innovation isn't another groundbreaking SUV; instead, it's an artistic collaboration with famed Italian artist Nino Mustica.

Unfortunately, you're not going to be able to see the newest Land Rover curiosity anywhere near our Winnetka Land Rover dealership. The sculpture, which is known as “Unstoppable Spirit,” can be found along the banks of the river Thames in London and was a collaboration between Mustica and Land Rover design director Gerry McGovern. Sitting right next to the Royal Festival Hall, “Unstoppable Spirit” makes a strong statement, thanks to its bold and provocative design. It's a bit difficult to describe in print, but it features the new Land Rover Discovery covered in red paint sitting amongst a oddly shaped sculpture.

Mustica is an artist who is known for finding fresh expression through evolving technology, and his work has leaped from the canvas to physical objects. His innovations have found a perfect parallel in the auto industry, as Land Rover has matched Mustica's flair for the strong, undoubtedly modern design choices Land Rover has made in the past few years. It's appropriate that the new Land Rover Discovery is featured in the sculpture, because it is an appropriately tough and dynamic vehicle that matches Mustica's style.
