Land Rover is looking to expand its brand to a place never even traversed before by a commercial vehicle: space. Although its safe to say that Land Rover vehicles have their wheels squarely planted on the Earth, the automaker is running a promotion for its new 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport, conducted in partnership with Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic spaceflight company.

However, this is a bit more complicated than a simple sweepstakes, so break out your creative streak and get ready. In order to enter this contest, you simply need to visit https://gotospace.landrover.com/us and input your Facebook credentials. Next, you need to get your creative juices flowing to name your spaceship and create a 500-character essay on why you and three of your best friends deserve to go to space. After this, create a short, 30-second essay on why your group of buddies should be riding the Virgin Galactic.
When contests like this occur, they are usually judged by online votes, but that's not the case here. Two representatives from Land Rover and another two from Virgin Galactic will be choosing the winners of the contest. The Canadian winners will receive a trip to New Mexico to get an advanced drive of the upcoming 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport, and the American winner will receive a trip to Iceland. The holy grail grand prize is a trip for four to Spaceport America in New Mexico and a spot on one of the first 1,000 Virgin Galactic flights to leave Earth.
