Surely, if you've ever departed Northfield for a trip into the city of Chicago, you've encountered more than a few bicyclists sharing the road with you. When you're driving in Chicago having to deal with all the other hazards that city driving brings to the table, having to constantly keep your eyes open for cyclists riding next to your car or darting out in front of you can be exhausting. Leave it to the innovators at Land Rover to provide a solution to this issue. The automaker's new technology, Bike Sense, will be one of the newest revolutionary safety features in upcoming Land Rover vehicles aimed at protecting both drivers and other people around the Land Rover vehicle.
Bike Sense doesn't just alert Land Rover drivers for cyclists, however. The technology will work by determining whether there is a motorcycle or a bicycle near the vehicle and then alert the driver. Bike Sense will use lights and sounds to help the driver recognize that a bicycle or motorcycle is approaching. You will also be able to determine which direction it is approaching from relative to the vehicle.
For example, if you are driving and a bike approaches, a bell or a horn will sound in the speaker in the direction of the bike. As the bike gets closer, the driver's seat will extend to tap the driver on the shoulder.
Here at our local Land Rover dealer, Northbrook and Northfield residents will be able to utilize this technology in new 2015 Range Rover Sport vehicles later this year!
