Northfield drivers who make their way down to Chicago every once in a while are surely well aware of the pothole scourge. Even up here in the northern suburbs, potholes are an inescapable issue when you're cursed with winters such as ours. Leave it to the genius engineers at Land Rover headquarters to solve the pothole problem. A new pothole-avoiding prototype car is currently being tested in England, and it is being developed by a Land Rover team that aims to reduce the hassle, damage, and injuries that come with hitting potholes.
At Land Rover Northfield, we have some preliminary information about this exciting new technology. The executives at Jaguar Land Rover believe that their cutting-edge Pothole Alert research could help save drivers billions of dollars a year in pothole-related damage repair, as well as insurance claims. The technology has been tested in the Range Rover Evoque, and it works by identifying the location and severity of potholes and broken manhole covers.
After a hazard has been identified by the sensors, the system will automatically adjust the height of the suspension, giving passengers a more comfortable ride over the rough surfaces. Additionally, the data gathered by the sensors will be turned into big data that can be shared for the benefit of other road users. The team is also looking to improve pothole detection so much that the car will automatically be guided around potholes without leaving its lane.
We don't know when this technology will be hitting our shores, but for residents of Northfield and Highland Park, the Range Rover Evoque for sale can be found right here at Land Rover Northfield!
