As one of the largest and most popular automakers in the world, Jaguar Land Rover does so much more than manufacture luxurious vehicles. Even since the company's inception, Jaguar Land Rover has also been about giving back to people around the world through various charitable organizations. The latest news out of Land Rover headquarters is that the company recently kicked off a new project in western Kenya that aims to bring clean water to the country's students.

Here at our local Northfield Land Rover dealership, we are thrilled to see that our favorite automaker cares so much about providing underprivileged people around the world with the necessities to live. Jaguar Land Rover is working with the social enterprise ClimateCare and the Swiss company Vestergaard to provide smart water-filtration systems that will provide up to 300,000 students in the Bungoma region of Kenya with clean and drinkable water. The project will deliver Vestergaard's LifeStraw water filters, which are an easy-to-use contraption that is used by as many as 780 million people worldwide.

This new initiative is an addition to Jaguar Land Rover's Global CSR Program, which aims to bring educational opportunities to at least 2 million young people. Its second goal is to improve lives, whether in public health or environmental stewardship, for 10 million people by 2020. The partnership with ClimateCare also has additional implications, as ClimateCare is in the middle of several global environmental initiatives, such as researching new ways to finance clean-energy technologies in East Africa. In the future, ClimateCare could potentially help Land Rover develop clean energy powertrains for its SUVs.
