One of the best aspects of Land Rover vehicles is the fact that their high amounts of torque allows them to tow heavy trailers. This comes in handy when you're going on off-road adventures or long road trips. Of course, trailers come with their own set of drawbacks as well, such as making the tasks of changing lanes and seeing behind you much more difficult. Ever the tech trailblazer, Land Rover is hard at work on developing a technology that will essentially put a cloak around the trailer.

Here at your local Northfield Land Rover dealership, this news is not something that we necessarily would have expected, but at this point, we know that the engineers at Land Rover has a lot of tech tricks up their sleeves. Of course, this technology isn't a Harry Potter-style invisibility cloak; instead, several rear-facing cameras on the Land Rover and the trailer will be installed. The resulting images will then be run through a computer and made transparent to the driver. So in reality, you will be looking a composed image that shows what is behind the trailer onto the image of the trailer.

The point behind this cloaking technology is to give drivers situational awareness of the road and obstacles around them when they are towing a trailer in their 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport or other Land Rover vehicle. Of course, this will also them in the difficult task of backing up with the trailer, as you will be able to see the direct feed from the rear of the trailer, with guiding lines providing assistance.

Look for this cloaking technology to be on Land Rover vehicles right here at Land Rover Northfield in the near future!
