Usually, when Winnetka-area drivers think about convertibles, they think about sports cars with a drop-top. Well, Land Rover is setting out to change that perception of convertibles with its new Range Rover Evoque cabriolet convertible. Although a drop-top SUV is pretty much unheard of, leave it to the engineering geniuses at Land Rover to create something that combines the best aspects of Range Rover vehicles -- durability, luxury, and cutting-edge technology -- with the freeing aspects of a convertible.

The Evoque Convertible is set to go on sale in the United States this summer, and the first thing that drivers near Winnetka will notice about it is the unorthodox exterior design. The canvas roof furls behind the rear seats in just 18 seconds and will deploy at speeds up to 30 miles per hour. Compared to the standard Range Rover Evoque for sale near Highland Park, the Convertible gets a rear trunk spoiler and a slightly deeper front fender assembly with larger cooling ducts. In the event of a rollover, the car contains twin aluminum roll bars behind the rear seats that deploy in 90 milliseconds.

On the inside, the Evoque Convertible includes a number of driver assistance packages, including the 360-degree parking control system which virtually monitors all around the car. Also, helpful features like autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and driver alert warning make sure that the driver and passengers are safe inside the car. Under the hood, the Convertible is loaded with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine that cranks out 240 horsepower and 250 pound-per-foot of torque.

While the Evoque Convertible won’t be available until June, head on over to Land Rover Northfield to check out our huge selection of vehicles!
