If you want to take proper care of your Land Rover vehicle, you definitely want to know what your Range Rover dashboard symbols mean. These symbols light up when there are issues with your luxury SUV, so knowing how to respond can help you mitigate damage and take the proper precautions.

Let's take a closer look at some of the symbols that may light up in your vehicle. When you're in need of expert service, visit our Land Rover service center here at Land Rover Northfield.

Battery. This light looks like a rectangle with a positive and negative symbol on it. It lights up when you start up your vehicle, but then it should turn off. If it stays on or turns on again when you're driving, there may be an issue with your battery and its ability to charge.

Forward alert. Some lights correspond to different safety features offered by your Land Rover SUV. This symbol looks like a car and a triangle. When it lights up, you need to maintain a safer distance from the vehicle in front of you.

Brakes. In many Land Rover models, this light simply says “BRAKE” and indicates that your brake fluid needs to be refilled. If your brake light stays on after a refill, it might be time to visit our Land Rover service center to check for a deeper issue.

Lane departure warning. If you have this safety feature in your vehicle, a light will turn on if you begin to drift out of your lane.

Engine. The engine and transmission light looks a lot like a normal car engine. Like your battery light, it should turn on when you start your vehicle, but it should turn off after that. If it doesn't, you should see our mechanics right away to avoid expensive engine damage. There's also an engine temperature light that looks like a thermometer and lets you know if your engine is in danger of overheating.

These are just a few of the lights that could indicate an issue that needs to be addressed by our mechanics. If you are concerned about your vehicle, bring it to our Land Rover dealership in Northfield, IL. We look forward to assisting you!
